Craft Your Own Glass Jar Storage Solutions with Decoupage
Extra jars can be transformed into beautiful storage solutions with decoupage!
From dry goods, to bathroom accessories, glass jars are a great way to organize and accessorize beautifully.
SUPPLIES
- Any glass jar and lid (I used a pickle jar)
- Decoupage napkins & papers of choice
- Glue Gun & Glue
- Mod Podge
- Paint Brush
- Paint Color (optional)
- Jute twine & embellishments (I recommend a thicker jute for less glue)
- Cup with water
- Paper Towel
- Large zip lock bag, saran or plastic wrap
First you'll want to make sure your jar is clean and free of any labels or residue. From there I started tearing the different sections of paper that I wanted to use for the background of design and applied them to the jar using mod podge.
For this project I used just the verse portion of the Strength & Honour Napkin from our June Napkin Club and applied to the center of the jar as an overlay. I only used the very top layer of the 3-ply so that background will blend in seamlessly. (Don't forget to keep the flowers for another project).
TIP: Use the zip lock bag to smooth out the design wording from the inside out
For the lid I took the jute twine and glued it in a circular pattern over the top and sides of the lid.
I was going use the jute on the top of the glass jar as well but the jute I was using was so thin it was using was taking a ton of glue and time so instead I just painted the top of the jar using White Paint (this is the kind I love using- it coats well and dries quickly).
Next I used the tearing method to edge around the two parts of the design I wanted to feature and attach the graphic that will be the background first with mod podge. (Make sure you also separate the ply of the napkin so that you only get the top layer).

Great question! Since we custom print our own designs here in the US (instead of overseas) we are only able to print the front of the napkin at this time. It’s been important to us to support local US based businesses first whenever possible. Blessings, Melanie

I recently bought a few napkins and some rub ones to play with while my sister is visiting in January. While sharing my finds with my sister she asked if the napkins had four printed panels. I opened my napkin to find that only one panel was printed with your beautiful design. I was wondering if it would be cost effective and or advantageous for you all to print all four panels so your customers get more for their money? I’m not sure who my sister buys from but the ones she buys are printed as such.
